Customer Reviews of All Round
Our absolute favorite children's magazine! Let me start by saying that I'm a magazine addict. At any one time I have at least 15 different titles lying around the house, most of which are subscriptions. I enjoy an eclectic mix of 'zines, from Newsweek and Utne to Martha Stewart, Mothering, and VegNews. Because I can often be found with my nose buried in a magazine, my children have learned to love them, too. Sadly, we've been through a number of children's publications, none of which hold their interest for long. I won't mention them all here, because they all have redeeming qualities, and I'm sure they appeal to some families, but this is the first one that we all love - from ages 3 to adult. <

>We recently received two issues of this super colorful and artistic kids' magazine (using the term kid loosely here, as it's "a radical magazine for children ages 1 to 100 and up"), and were amazed. It's printed on heavy duty, recycled, quality paper, and each page is as bright as a painting; in fact, many of them are paintings. It is apparent that a tremendous amount of time, energy and love goes into the designing and creation of each one. We literally read them cover to cover; there was nothing we wanted to skip over. Each one is packed full of fun, interesting, and useful information. <

>My seven year old daughter Kalli said her favorite thing about All Round is "that you get to color pictures and put them in the magazine. They have nice pictures." She also likes "that you get to read the letters; letters that people send talking about contests." And they don't just retype what people send them. They include actual scans of the letters themselves. So much personality is all over these pages that you want to soak it up slowly, savoring each drawing and expression. Each issue has a "contest" for which they ask you to draw a picture. For example, "If you could have your own garden, what would it look like?" or "What would you like to see that you've never seen before?" The first 50 entries are included in the magazine along with the artist's name and age (if you include that info). Imagine your child's thrill (or your own!) at seeing his artwork displayed in a magazine. <

All Round
All Round is hands down the best children's magazine I have seen or heard of anywhere. The best thing about All Round to me is that I enjoy reading it just as much as my kids do, and that's a lot! My oldest child, age 8, reads by himself, and I read it to my four year old and she just can't seem to get enough! The creator, Tilke Elkins, seems to have a great feel for children and their natural curiosity and wonder. Striking art, brilliant color, captivating text, this is a special mag!
Full of wonderful stories, artwork, great for all ages!
I have never seen a magazine like this. It is truly a "one-of-a-kind". The artwork is outstanding and will inspire any child or adult to create. The author has a drawing contest in each publication in which all entries are published. A wonderful incentive for children to create.
The topics the author chooses are original and help children think creatively about the world around them. Past subjects have included "Night", "Hands" and "Shelter".
I highly recommend this magazine to any parents, teachers, librarians or anyone who appreciates good writing and artwork.
