A CLASSIC THAT LOOKS BETTER THAN EVER! I saw this film at the theater when first released and I have seen it numerous times on TV, but this was the first time I watched the 2 disc special edition(actually the 9 disc box set)in my home theater and I must say I was very impressed! The Transfer is exceptional and the movie has never looked better. There are a few good scares in this well made Sci- Fi story. This is really a remake of "It The Terror From Beyond Space" The Box set is incredible and a worthy purchase. If you are not a fan of the entire series then buy the two disc set of the first two.
I Couldn't See Anything
This movie needs more lights!! The only part I could understand was when they were eating plastic cereal in the bright room of ship, but a monster came out of a belly and made me confused. The rest of time was everyone looking serious and sweating; I was confused. Was the air cool keeper broken? Why doesn't anyone tell jokes? When you are serious a joke is very funny and good. In the end the monster went into space (no joke!) and I think it was the monster from the belly - he got big; lots of cereal!!! Two stars - I send three more stars for more lights!!!
Best science fiction/horror movie (Kansas)
Alien is about a mining ship that lands on a planet suspecting an SOS signal and they go exploring and discover a deadly creature. They go searching on a spaceship on the planet and find hundreds of eggs and one hatches producing a facehugger that latches onto one of the crews face. After awhile it comes off and they think he is alright but he is harboring a chestburster that soon matures into a deadly alien. I think this is a real suspenseful movie. Because the design of the ship, how the alien looks, and the atmosphere of the whole movie is what makes it scary. The two disc directors cut shows extra scenes like when Ripley finds Brett and Dallas cocooned,and an alternative death scene for Brett. The first disc contains the 1979/2003 directors cut, and commentaries. The second disc shows behind the scenes, direction and design, chestburster and creature design, deleted and extended scenes and much more. Anyone who likes sci-fi movies should see this great movies immediatley.
