Customer Reviews of Aldershot Command Searchlight Tattoo: 1932-1938
A Great Historic CD The Aldershot Tattoo was the premier military Tattoo in the UK during the inter-war years of the 1930s. Before there was an Edinburgh Tattoo the Aldershot show took the lead for sheer scale and spectacle. These highligted recordings have been wonderfully re-mastered from original 78 records onto CD format. The clearity of sound is quite impressive. This is what CD enhancement should be all about. On these tracks you will hear some great massed band performances. Some of these tracks include famous marches conducted by the actaul bandmasters who wrote them. McBean's "Mechanized Infantry" march, and Plater's "March of the King's Men" are two such examples. There are two recordings by the pipes and drums of the 2nd Seaforth Highlanders which are of special interest. For the lover of great martial music from the golden years of military bands you won't want to pass up this terrific CD. Strongly recommended.
