The Only Airline Magazine For Civil Aviation Professionals 'Air Transport World' is the one magazine that is absolutely indispensable for a macro view of the worldwide airline industry. Without question, it is the most important magazine that I read professionally, surpassing even 'Aviation Week and Space Technology.' While I love 'Aviation Week and Space Technology,' it covers all aspects of aviation, whereas 'Air Transport World' deals exclusively with civil aviation issues, hence my statement of relative merit for someone in civil aviation.
'Air Transport World' has articles on operations, management, information technology, as well as features on specific developments, aircraft, and airports; for instance, the feature this month (May, 2004) is titled "A-380 Bigger and Smarter" and is a thorough appraisal of the A-380 and all related subjects like taxiway and gatehouse preparation for the Airbus mega-jet.
There are also monthly updates on equipment, leasing, and order information; fuel spot prices, traffic, and monetary exchange rates; and vital news briefs. In general the editorials are very well written and thoughtful, and though I sometimes disagree with the editorial writer, J.A. Donoghue, I always read his thoughts respectfully and with an open mind.
