Customer Reviews of Adbusters
This is an excellent magazine "Adbusters" is an excellent satirical look at the absurdities of the commercial ads that we are inundated with on a daily basis in this culture, as well as an investigation into the affect their messages have on us. Lately, what I have found most helpful about "Adbusters" is how it reveals the damage ads can do to our self-esteem, that ads often suggest that we are too fat, not pretty enough, not strong enough, not handsome enough, have too many pimples, don't wear the right clothes, our life isn't good enough, not enough people like us, but all these problems may be remedied if only we'd buy the product in question, the one in the glossy picture. (Frighteningly, a recent article in "Adbusters" claims that most doctors decide on which medication to prescribe to their patients by looking at such glossy ads in medical journals.)
If you are a counter culture type like me, interested in the behind-the-scenes details of the corporate world and the affect their ads have on us, then you will love "Adbusters."

Everyone should subscribe!
Adbusters is a wonderful magazine. Someone called it angry-- it deals with outrage over our culture and social change, of course parts of it will be angry. I think it should be. But it is not all anger-- one thing Adbusters does wonderfully is show both sides. Everyone should subscribe-- but do it through their website-- you can get two years subscription plus postcards for less than Amazon charges for one year! If you subscribe through Amazon, you are paying more than $2 OVER COVER PRICE per issue! Subscribe, but fund the magazine, not Amazon.
irony
the irony of consuming, and supporting in a capitalist economy, an anti-capitalist, anti-consumption magazine. pretty, but that doesn't justify giving in. if you really want to support buy nothing day, and the ideals of it, then truly buy nothing as much as possible. do you really need this magazine?
