Functional and reasonably elegant
I bought this tower five years ago in a store for $80, the same price as present retail, so the value for the price has likely increased a bit. The positive aspects of this storage tower are that the base is heavily weighted somehow, so the unit is very stable, despite its height (I think it even remained upright during the earthquake we had here in Seattle); its height gives it good space efficiency in a small apartment like mine; and, most of its shelves are adjustable, so you can size to CD, DVD, VHS, trinkets, etc. The negatives aren't too significant, but there are a couple: the whole thing is very simple and elegant in appearance except for the black plastic balls which cover the screws on the very top; also, the adjustable shelves are held up by little black wire squeeze clips on the poles, which makes it hard to get the shelves perfectly level, and the clips can interfere with stuffing that last CD below the next shelf up, so the capacity of the whole thing is probably about 300 CDs rather than 306, if it's stuffed full. The advantage of the clips is that there are no holes drilled in the poles for pegs, which makes the look of the thing very sleek and streamlined (except for those silly plastic things on the top). The flaws are minor and probably unnoticeable to most people, however, and overall I've been extremely satisfied with this rack over the years. I only just moved on to a larger one, as I've outgrown this one.
