Customer Reviews of ATI 100-714140 ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 XT Dg Agp 128MB Whitebox
I'm very satisfied I bought this card because I needed a Direct X 9.0 compliant video card that would work with the motherboard on a 2+ year old computer with AGP 4x. I was surprised to see a card with so much functionality that met my requirements and was still on the market. These companies drop older technologies so quickly that most of the available cards seemed to be focused on PCI Express. <

>Having had a great deal of experience with ATI products in the past, I was not surprised to see how well-designed the card looked, and how easily it installed and worked. Though these were not primary reasons for buying the card, I have immensely enjoyed the ability to listen to FM radio and record it while I am working. The TV-watching capabilities are a bit more than I can use, but the video recording and editing functions will get a lot of use, later. <

>The card came with a flexible FM antenna that has plastic grommets at the ends, which allow you to spread it out on a wall behind your computer. The reception is quite good. The software has the ability to schedule shows for automatic recording. <

>My primary reasons for upgrading from my ancient PCI Voodoo card to the ATI is the Direct X 9 compliance, and the dual-monitor capability. In both regards, this card truly shines. There was no hesitation when my programs ran. These same programs choked with the old Voodoo and screamed for full Direct X 9 compliance. Rewriting them wouldn't work because I still needed the functions. Both monitors display clearly, and with no hesitation. Upgrading the card to the ATI was an all-around good decision. <

>This machine will also be used for processing and storing a lot of digital photographs and the software that came with the ATI card is heavily focused on that. The clarity of the display on my monitor(s) is excellent, and will make handling pictures much more pleasant and accurate. <

>The cables that came with the card include the bundle that includes two VGA connectors (for two monitors), a plug to connect to your audio card, a purple connector to attach to your camcorder or VCR via RCA cables or s-video, and the previously-mentioned wire FM antenna. The external connectors include a connection for a TV antenna or cable TV line and a connection for the FM antenna. <

>If it's important to you, I am using this card on a home-built computer with an Asus P4B533-E motherboard with a Pentium 4 -2.26 GHz processor, 1 GB Crucial RAM, Plextor PX-716A DVD/CD burner, Optiquest Q95-2 19-inch CRT monitor, a 350 Watt power supply and Windows XP SP2. It all works well together. <

>I highly recommend this card, and I may buy another one for a second older computer of mine that also has an ancient video card. This card is very capable, though it won't compete with the more expensive video cards with several times as much memory and PCI Express. I couldn't use one of those because my motherboard doesn't have PCI Express connections. Also Amazon had this one for $99! This card is great for those of us who don't throw away their older computers that are still able to do the job. <
