Customer Reviews of ACDsee 6.0 Deluxe
Powerusers beware I would like to add to the other comments that ACDSee 6.0 throws away the EXIF Makernotes, when writing JPG files. <
>I have tried it and gone back to Version 2.4, which does nothing but view images, but it does that very quickly efficiently. <
>And I went back to using Exifer V2.15 for managing EXIF data. <
> <
>What a shame they didn't manage to include proper EXIF and IPTC handling.
Bloated
Perhaps the last time ACDSee was really useful was a late entry in Rev 3. Now there's just too much clutter and convolution to executing the fundamental tasks this used to perform so simply.

>The attempt to win new customers with endless new features that consistently destroy the usabilty of the previous rev is tragic. The packaging for 6.0 should just have call-outs all over it that say "Another Feature of No Use to You the Consumer!!!" and, "Feature Included to Appease the Marketing Dept!!" I just wish once the MBA wielding drones who clutter Americas corporations would keep their finger out of the pie. In their eyes the company would go under if it didn't remain competetive, but since I haven't upgraded since 3.0 what's the difference?

>There are ways to migrate a great product forward. This isn't it.
A very fine photo editor and viewer.
I have not attempted to use ACDsee or any other specialized program as a photo manager. Instead, I use ACDsee 6 to do quick-and-dirty editing of thousands of photos. For that purpose, it is excellent, and superior to anything else that I have tried (Microsoft Digital Image Pro 7, Adobe Photoshop Album 2 Starter Edition, and Adobe Photoshop Elements). Moreover, the file viewer is faster than Ifranview, and, in some cases, the images are less grainy.

> A very large percentage of my indoor photos, and a substantial percentage of my outdoor photos, profit from highlight expansion via a luminance level contol. This is very nicely implemented in ACDsee, as are redeye removal, cropping, and rotation. And one can do these things quickly, which is highly desirable if one is processing lots of photos.

> One feature that I missed is a despeckle intensity control. ACDsee 6 offers only one intensity, and it is too strong for my taste. But such a control is, I think, too advanced a feature to expect in this kind of program.
