Customer Reviews of A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, Vol. 1
A PUP NAMED SCOOBY DOO AS GOOD AS ORIGINAL I was so surprised when I saw these toons a few years ago and I thought they would be the usual attempt to carry on a popular show with usually nothing results, but these were such a great surprise, because they had all the cleverness of the original <
>Scooby Doo series, while being completely different. You can watch them even if you've never seen Scooby Doo and they stand alone as a really funny, clever animated show in their own right.
The Pup was stupid....
By the mid-1980's, it was apparent to everyone that HB productions were losing out the Saturady Mourning cartoon to other animation studios. By this point, they tried and failed to revive the Scooby Doo cartoon with this new take on Scooby being a puppy, and all the Mystery Inc. gang were just in grade school. It didn't work. It was a total make-over and departure from the original idea, the show barely lasted a season and three halfs, not many were made, perhaps that was a form of mercy when you take into account that Scappy Doo had taken over the shows, that little annoying pup had pretty much gotten in everyone's face, No one liked him, and the shows were fairly reduced to just having him, Scooby and Shaggy in a series of annoying/unfunny shows. This and the 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo, all lasted one season or less. They were total failures. Why put them on DVD? Because Warner's DVD department is stupid.
A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, Vol. 1
FINALLY! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about this show finally being released onot DVD! "A Pup Named Scooby Doo" was one of the best (not to mention funniest) Scooby Doo spin-offs. It ran from 1988-1991 and has had a home on Cartoon Network for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately Cartoon Network has butchered up the show with their non-sense 3 commercial breaks every show, so I am just relieved that this show will finally be releeased commercial-free. If you are a true Scooby Doo fanatic, this DVD is for you.
