Customer Reviews of A Man Named Lombardi
Lombardi- A True Teacher. Vincent Lombardi was a teacher. While he is best known for coaching and WINNING, those who truly knew him will tell you he was perhaps the greatest teacher they ever had. As this wonderful video portrays, he taught every person he came in contact with something about life. He made those around him realize that focusing on a goal, giving every ounce of energy, and staying true to yourself and your goal, would make you a winner. While at times the video makes him seem like somewhat of a neanderthal, hell-bent on winning, it also shows how much he cared about those around him. He was dedicated to each person associated with the teams he coached, all the way down to the janitorial crew. He was a man who never missed Mass, but yet he could spew curse words like a sailor. It is only known by very few people that Coach Lombardi gave away millions of dollars to ex-players, his Church, and many other charities. The video does show him as a win-at-all-cost coach. But Coach Lombardi was well known for playing the game fair. He was a man who demanded each of his players to give every part of their body, mind, and soul while on the football field. He also demanded that his players respected the game and the fans. He explained to them that the game was a sacred thing, as were the fans. His players were to give their all on the field, they owed it to the fans, who payed their salaries. Off the field, he expected, no, demanded that every player act like a gentleman when dealing with the fans who loved his teams so much. He said that no matter what the score, if at the end of a game you have left everything inside you on that field, you were victorious. He said that applied to everyday life, as well. I strongly recommend this video to every type of person. Man, woman, and child. So many of the things he says are not only motivational, but can be used as guidelines to help set and achieve goals in life. I believe Coach Lombardi would have been as successfull no matter what he chose to do in life. If you watch this video over and over, as I have, you will realize what a true genius he was. You will also see what a wonderful human being he was.
