Customer Reviews of A Concert for George
Super Show a must have Can't really say enough about this Super Show. You can't get better than this. Clapton was incredible in his playing and singing. I thought the number by Jools Holland stole the show. I did hope that Paul & Ringo would team up with Julian Lennon and Dhani Harrison for this, but I guess that is asking too much.
A Treasure! A Classic!
"Concert For George" is a passionate and moving tribute to George Harrison, filled with memorable highlights.

>I was taken by the captivating "Arpan", written by Ravi Shankar especially for this concert. It's earnestly conducted by Shankar's daughter, Anoushkah, who also turns in her own amazing sitar performance.

>Also memorable is an appearance by the members of Monty Python, who puncture whatever pompousness may have been in the room as they reprise a couple of their classic routines.

>But the show really takes off when the "gang" comes out - George's favorite musical friends. They rock the house as they perform with an obvious love and respect for George.

>Every song in this DVD is a gem. Every performance is worthy. Highlights include Paul McCartney's rendition of "Something" (featuring a great duet with Eric Clapton), and Clapton nailing it on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

>Beyond the music and performances, what makes this concert special - as another reviewer noted - are the small moments. And seeing Dhani Harrison (George's son) play right alongside the older pros is quite touching.

Wow Wow!
Music is a kind of magic ... magic that forms in the hearts of musicians and filters out to us through their hands and mouths, and through the hands and mouths of their friends and family. The minutes that inclose "The Concert for George" compose one of those moments where magic wells from the stage, from the sight of Dhani Harrison (George's son, who so strikingly looks like George in his youth it's spooky), to Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka, to Eric Clapton doing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps",to Jeff Lynne on "Give Me Love", to Joe Brown (to whom the Beatles were second-billed way back when) plucking "I'll See You In My Dreams" on the ukelele (and so much more). Throw in the pixie dust of Monty Python (joined by Tom Hanks in uniform) doing "The Lumberjack Song" and "Sit on My Face", and you have something incredible coming through your DVD player. Just buy it ... you'll watch the magic more than once, and you'll thank the friends and family of George Harrison for passing it on to you every time.
