Customer Reviews of 900 Mhz Long Range - Monitor
Have not had any problems after 15 months of use This was the third monitor that I have purchased. The first few (First Years and a different Fisher Price model) interfered with the wireless computer network we have set up in the house. I have been VERY happy with this monitor's performance. I do not get any interference (static or clicking noises) and can go up to two houses away without a problem. I especially like the vibrating feature because this allows us to mow the lawn or snowblow without fear of not hearing our daughter. We highly recommend this model. We use it pretty much all day. It is plugged in most of the time (except when we are outside) and have not had any battery problems to speak of yet. Again, we are extremely happy with its performance compared with the other three monitors that we have tried. And you can't beat the price! It doesn't pay to buy the more expensive ones out there.
even better than more expensive competitors
we had the older version of this monitor (when it was called the "Vibrating Monitor"). after i dropped it a dozen times or so it finally gave out when it fell from the counter to the tile floor (i never said i was graceful).
i found out that fisher price changed it and took away the rechargable battery in favor of AAA's. This didnt appeal to me so i looked for other options.
I tried both the Clear and Near 2.4 ghz by First Years which was $60 and another one by Safety first that was $50 (cant recall the name).
they both STUNK compared to this one. They were both staticky and loud on the background noise... and the volume didnt go as loud as the Fisher Price.
i returned them both and got a new Fisher Price, now called the Long Range Monitor and its GREAT just like the older one. Crystal clear, loud, pics up breathing and the ticking of the clock if you turn it up loud enough. I LOVE it and its only $35.
we have 2.4 Ghz phones and a wireless network in our house and there are no issues. (maybe that was the problem with the Clear and Near but for the price this one is so worth it!).
it also has great range. i can go two houses over and still hear.. though it gets staticky then.
Battery Life - Suckers
I love that this monitor is clear and can even pick up the sound of my baby sucking his thumb, but that's only if it is plugged in. I have to change the batteries EVERY WEEK! I only have it unplugged during the day when my baby is napping (about 1.5-2 hrs a day). FP said that I unplug it for more than they are supposed to be in a week (no longer than 8-10 hrs). My last monitor held battery life for 6 Mos (too bad my child chewed on the antenna)! By the time you buy replacement batteries for this, you could buy a new one! I DON'T recommend it.
