Customer Reviews of 30th Anniversary Tour: Live
Thorogood is the coolest, but... Something is missing from this DVD, George Thorogood's fanatastic guitar tone. I can see some modern Mesa amps onstage, that I think he's plugged into. Not sure but I'm guessing he is using different amps from the old days, becuase it's just not there. The other guy playing lead sounds good, but Goeorge's tone isn't right. I can't really blame George (he may be half deaf, for all I know, with all touring he's put in), but someone, with some hearing left, should tell him to go back to what he was using in the days he recorded these fantastic songs. His guitar is lost in the mix and what you do hear is a bit harsh and grainy. Where it used to be warm with just the right amount of grit. Too bad because his guitar is so important to the music. Otherwise he's still got the vocals, the camera work is good and picture quality is fine. I would rather see the interview stuff in a seperate extras section. I'll be looking for another older DVD of Thorogood. Sorry I started with this one. It's lackluster.
This Concert ROCKS !!!!
I Definitly AGREE with Mike about the Behind the scene clips, but they are very short. The concert footage, though, DOE'S NOTHING BUT ROCK !!!! George & the Destroyers at there best!! The video and sound are superb
Will they ever learn?
The best way to ruin the live concert feel of a DVD is to intercut the performance with "extras". No matter how good the performance, interrupting the music with behind the scenes clips is one of the worst things you can do. The Paul McCartney "Back in the USA" DVD was rendered completely unwatchable due to this stupidity along with horrible editing and jumpy camera cuts. <

>NOTE TO CONCERT DVD PRODUCERS:<

>PUT THE EXTRAS IN THEIR OWN SECTION. STOP INTERRUPTING THE SHOWS. YOU ARE RUINING THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE OF HOME THEATER CONCERTS! I REFUSE TO PURCHASE ANY MORE BUTCHERED CONCERT DVDs.
