Customer Reviews of 2005 Global Buggy Stroller - Atlantic
Not worth the money! I purchased this stroller after researching for weeks. I thought I had made a good decision based on the facts. Maclaren was supposed to be a trust worthy name brand. The stroller was light weight, maneuverable, had a universal car seat adaptor and looked great. Also, my husband and I are both over six feet tall, and the handles were tall enough for the both of us. I have been using this stroller for the past seven months. It serviced our needs fairly well while my daughter was in an infant seat. However, after four months, she was too tall to ride in the infant seat and was using the stroller without it. That is when I discovered that I did not like this stroller. <
>1. The straps are not adjustable to the child's height. When I first started placing my daughter in the seat, the arm straps were at her ears and the between-the-leg connector was a good 6 inches from her, so she was constantly sliding into a slouched position. <
>2. When your child is asleep in the stroller and reclined, the VERY SMALL cargo area is totally inaccessible. This is a real problem if you need anything out of the diaper bag!! <
>3. The stroller seems somewhat unstable when the child reclines. All the weight moves to the back of the stroller and it feels like it could easily tip backwards. <
>3. There is no "parent attachment" so there is no where to place a drink, or keys, cell phone etc. <
>4. The break down is awkward and certainly requires some getting used to. The handle triggers stick and sometimes during set-up it takes brute force to get the thing to pop out. While traveling in the airport, a security officer couldn't get the stroller to set up to inspect it. It took two people to get it to pop and about 15 minutes of my rushed travel time. It is tough enough traveling with a new baby; no one needs to have the stroller causing problems too! <
>5. Just recently, when I was attempting to place the weather cover over the stroller, the entire sunshade broke! The cheap plastic construction totally buckled under a normal amount of pressure. I now have to buy another stroller. Considering I spent $300 on this one, I am NOT happy to have to buy another stroller. <

>This stroller does maneuver well and it is light weight. However, for the amount of money that Maclaren is asking for this particular piece of equipment, it should perform better! <

Great Stroller
I bought this in Garnet rather than the Graphite one shown but they are identical aside from color. It was really easy to attach the accessories even while I was pregnant. It is a little heavier than other strollers but it is manageable and sturdy which is important. The stroller has a really smart lock so you dont have to worry about strapping the stroller together when you close it. Just push down and listen for the click!

>This model does not come with a cold weather boot which I was lead to believe but the European version of the same stroller does.

<
>The Graco carseat I have fits very comfortably on the carseat with the removable carseat bar.

<
>The only downside is that they are discontinuing this model and changing to a carseat frame for infants. Which means you have to buy a second stroller as soon as your baby outgrows the carseat. So basically if you want a convertible stroller buy this one before they come out with the 2006 replacment.
Snazzy Maclaren
I have this stoller in Garnet. Here are some random pros & cons:
<
>
<
>*I bought it because from my extensive researching (!!), it seemed to be the only Maclaren which accepts a car seat.
<
>*Yes, it also comes with coordinating fabric which is not as well fitting as I expected - I have a Graco Snugride.
<
>*The car seat adaptor is really easy to switch out to a grab bar - which other Maclarens don't have either.
<
>*The recline lever is a little tricky sometimes and "sticks" a bit while I'm trying to lower it.
<
>*The under basket is easy to throw stuff in from above, between the back of the seat and the hood, rather than bending under the stroller to stow things. It's pretty roomy too.
<
>*The back of the hood also has storage pockets which I use for the car seat adaptor, and the included rain protector.
<
>*The bottle/cup holder is a bit useless as with most strollers (other than my big boat of a Graco) but at least it has one.
<
>*The 5 point harness is fairly easy to buckle up, although my 10 month old daughter slumps quite a bit in the seat.
<
>*One big plus for this stroller is that it's 42 inches in length - I'm 5,8 and my husband is 6,4 so this was a huge consideration for us.
<
>*The handles are comfortable, easy to push
<
>*EASIEST stroller ever to manouver - it has an easy turning radius, I can get it through doors without help, and most importantly, it breezily zips through store isles! Also fits next to you at a restaurant without people tripping over your huge stroller.
<
>*This is Maclaren's heaviest single stoller at about 19Ibs, but we wanted something not quite as flimsy as most of the lightweights, but still with an umbrella folding style. Honestly, it feels really light, and I am constantly putting it in & out of the back of my SUV - which it also doesn't use up much room in the back at all, another plus - more room for shopping bags!
<
>*Really pretty expensive though, and if you're like me and think you need the matching foot muff ($70) and the matching carry bag ($50) so the airlines don't detroy your $300 stroller, it can get even more pricey.
<
>*Personally I like the look of the Pegs and the Inglesina Zippy is quite pretty too, but I went with Maclaren's reputation and chose this for the convenient features and so far have not been disappointed. Yes the instructions are hard to follow though!!!
